Minors

In addition to the sixteen majors, there are also twelve minors in CASNR. You can pursue a minor to help develop skills or knowledge in an area relevant to your career interest. Minors can broaden your understanding of your discipline and can help you realize the similarities and differences between various areas of study.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS

Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness 22 hours. AGEC 1114 (or ECON 2103 and 2203); ACCT 2103 (or ACCT 3183 or AGEC 3183). 15 hrs in five upper division (3-hour) AGEC courses, excluding AGEC 3010, 3101, 3183, 3990, 4101, 4990. At least nine hours of upperdivision AGEC courses must be taken at OSU.
   
Agronomy 24 hours. PLNT 1213, 2013, 3554; Soil 2124, 4234. Minimum of 6 additional hrs from PLNT 3111, 3211, 3221, 3231, 4113, 4123 or 4613 or SOIL 4213; SOIL 4463.
   
Animal Science 22 hours. ANSI 1124. 18 hrs from ANSI 2253, 3333, 3423, 3433, 3443, 3523, 3543, 3653, 3753, 4023, 4203, 4333, 4423, 4543, 4553, 4613, 4633, 4643, 4803, 4863; FDSC 3033; at least 3 of these credits must be from 4000 level courses.
   
Biochemistry 20 hours. CHEM 1515, 3053, 3153, BIOC 3713, 3723, and 3813.
   
Entomology 15 hours. ENTO 2993; One course from: ENTO 3044, 4464, or 4223. 8-9 credits from any other ENTO courses to achieve the 15 minimum credits.
   
Environmental Economics and Policy 21 hours. AGEC 1114 (or ECON 2103); 3503 (or ECON 3903(S)), 4503; 11-12 credits from the following list of courses: AGEC 3703, 3713; ECON 3113 (or 3023); ENVR 4512, 4573; GEOG 3153(S), 4233; GEOL 4663; HIST 4523(H); NREM 4353 (or LEIS 4473), 3323, 4393(I); POLS 4363, 4593; SOC 4433(S), 4473, 4533(I,S).
   
Fisheries & Aquatic Ecology 22 hours. ZOOL 1604; BIOL 3034; NREM 4403 or 4424: NREM 4414; ZOOL 4434. 3 additional hours from ENTO 4483; ZOOL 4415; NREM 4403 or 4424 (if not used above).
   
Food Science 20 hours. FDSC 1133. 17 credits from FDSC 2253, 3113, 3154, 3182, 3210, 3333, 3373, 3603, 4333, 4763, 4910; ANSI 3543 (or NSCI 4323);  MCAG 4123. Credits in 3210 or 4910 may be used for this minor only if they involve activities which are approved by the Food Science advisor in advance.
   
Forestry 22 hours. NREM 1114 or 3343; 2134; 2013 or 3213; 3224. A minimum of 9 additional hours (at least 6 hours must be Upper Division) from NREM 1214, 2103, 2113, 3083, 3101, 3102, 3103, 3113, 3323, 3363, 4213, 4323, 4333, 4343, 4353, 4363, 4393, 4413.
   
Horticulture 23 hours. SOIL 2124; BOT 1404; HORT 1013, 3084. minimum of 8 hrs from HORT prefix courses excluding 1003, 2010, 4671, 4990, 5110; at least three of these hours must be at the 3000-level or above.
   
Leadership Education 17 hours. AGLE 1511, 2303, 3303, 4101, 4303; Choose 2 from: AGLE 2403, 3403; LEIS 2443, 2473; MGMT 3123, 4213, 4533, PSYC 4213.
   
Natural Resource Ecology & Management 22 hours. NREM 1014 and 2013. Minimum of 9 additiona hours from NREM 1114 or 3343, 3613, 3713, 4414, 4513. 6 hours not already used above, or choose from: SOIL 2124; BIOL 3034; NREM 1011, 3073, 3083, 3101, 3103, 3213, 3224, 3513, 4023, 4033, 4053, 4063, 4343, 4393, 4403, 4413, 4464, 4524, 4613, 4783.
   
Pest Management 18 hours.  ENTO 2993; and the following ENTO 3003, 3021, 3331, 3421, 3461, or PLP 3663 for a total of 10-12 hours. One course from PLP 3343 or ENTO 4854; 3-4 hours from PLNT 3111, 3211, 3221, 3231, 3343 or ENTO 4854. Additional 3-4 hours from: BOT 1404, PLNT 1213, PLNT 2013, HORT 1013, ANSI 1124, MICR 2123, NREM 1114, NREM 2013, SOIL 2124.  Additional hours from any of the following not already taken for credit, or other upper level course approved by the minor's departmental advisor, so that the total number of hours adds up to at least 18:  ENTO 3003, 3021, 3044, 3331, 3421, 3461, 4223, 4464, 4483, 4854; PLP 3343, 3553, 3663, ENTO/PLP 2143, 4922; PLNT 3111, 3211, 3221, 3231, 4113; SOIL 4363; NREM 3613, 4033.
   
Rangeland Ecology and Management 22 hours. PLNT 1213 (or BOT 1404); NREM 2013; 3613; SOIL 2124. Minimum of additional 9 hours from: NREM 3083, 4023, 4033, 4613, 4783, 4793; PLNT 4613.
   
Soil Science 22 hours. BIOL 1114; CHEM 1215; SOIL 2124. Minimum of additional 9 hours from SOIL prefix courses excluding 4210, 4470.
   

Wildlife Ecology

  26 hours. BIOL 3034; BOT 1404; NREM 3513, 4513; ZOOL 1604; A minimum of 8 additional hours from NREM 1011, 4464, 4524, 4543; ZOOL 4115, 4174.
